Sign of the Times (Rising Gasoline Costs)
It used to be when we would drive around Frederick County on the weekends, we'd see perhaps a handful of motorcycles and no scooters. This weekend, we saw ni less than 6 brand new, shiny, colorful scooters in use around town. Clearly the rising gasoline prices are causing county residents to think about more gas efficient transportation options. Too bad I have to drive on the highway at 70 MPH average speed for an hour each way to get to work--I'm not really a scooter candidate. They sure are cute, and gas prices around here are horrible. But at least I drive a sensible little Toyota, so I do OK. Still, it will be interesting to see if people start using scooters more and more around here.
