| Details: | Matti Vanhanen, the prime minister of Finland, will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on Monday, January 14, 2008.
The prime minister will discuss Finland's views on energy matters including energy security and relations with Russia on this issue, and climate change and Finland's future role as an innovative nation in this area. Vanhanen has been prime minister and leader of the Centre Party since 2003. He was elected a member of Parliament in1991 and has always had a keen interest in ecological issues and security policy. The National Press Club luncheon will begin at 12:30pm on Monday, January 14. The prime minister's remarks will begin at 1pm, followed by a question and answer session. The prime minister's visit to Washington, D.C., coincides with Finland serving as chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) during 2008.
