How in the world did you get this close to these guys?
Reminds me of a time when a gosling had gotten its leg stuck in the meshed, metal flooring of a Chicago street bridge. Traffic was blocked for quite a distance because the geese were flapping all around the stuck bird and not permitting cars to pass very easily. Before I knew what I was doing, I had the bird in my arms with my lips pressed against the top of its head. Within what seemed like a few seconds, the male of the group had finished hissing at me and flapping his wings in my direction and had taken his place at the back of the line of geese (just behind the newly-unstuck gosling), on their way to the Chicago River and out of the reach of humans.
I still can't get over how soft that baby goose was. Just how they look.
